January is here, and for me it is like a breath of fresh air. Life returns to whatever is normal for each of us without the holidays and the additional demands placed upon us by them. It is a month of resolutions, new beginnings, and fresh starts. So, as I sit here with my coffee, my kitty trying to sleep on my shoulder, having started and deleted this post several times, it is time to "take a deep breath," "exhale," and look around at all the things there are to be thankful for, not what "has to be done," and relax!
So for today remember . . . "Let us not allow the demands of our lives to push us so far and so fast that we rob ourselves of life's simple pleasures!" ~ ~ ~ Linda Miller =)
We have had such a mild winter so far this year that many of the plants on my patio are still blooming. This moonflower opens at night and if it is cool out will stay open for a bit in the morning. It is the only one that has bloomed this year but what a beautiful gift and lovely light scent! With the last post of 2012 comes my wish for a peaceful and happy 2013 to everyone!
So for today remember . . . "Less is more." ~ ~ ~

Being a Louisiana girl I don't see much snow. Went to Texas to spend Christmas with family there and got up Christmas morning to rain and hail, then sleet and rain, and by mid-afternoon snow. It was a beautiful sight albeit not a great day for those with new toys for outside. Everything is so bright and quiet in the snow, it has it's own special beauty.
If you like, take a moment to enjoy the falling snow and the lovely sound of a wind chime in the short video clip below. (p.s. . . . my camera or my fingers did not like the cold and I could not get the recording to stop . . . thus the lovely shot of my feet! =)
So for today remember. . . "Advice is like snow ~ the softer is falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind." ~~~~~~Samuel Taylor Coleridge
In this hectic life most of us lead, I am thankful for the people who make it their choice to seek out and discover the beauty that exists in our world. Get a favorite drink and sit back for a 5 minute vacation to Yosemite. I only post videos that I consider remarkable and worth your time, and mine!
So for today remember. . . stop and look around for the beauty in our world! and . . . thank you Shawn Reeder of Bishop, California for this beautiful time lapse video!
The natural process of having your own website and blog is that as you learn more about how to manage said website, at least for me, it becomes important to take time to unclutter and simplify the site. This butterfly incident happened in Fall 2008 in my second grade classroom. I am removing it from my home page where it no longer fits, and decided to share it here. The process was amazing! Enjoy! Miracle in my classroom!! These two caterpillars were found near my classroom. One had crawled onto one of the students backpacks and the other was found by the sweet lady who cleaned my room each day. She saw that we already had one in a jar and asked if I would like to place the second one. I put it into the jar and it quickly settled itself into place. The students were fascinated, as was I, having never seen this transformation in real life, only on television. Unfortunately one of the caterpillars did not survive, but above you can see the magnificent transformation of the one that did!

A few days have passed since writing here, my time has been consumed with setting up commerce features on my lsm design page. This has turned out to be a very time consuming task. Taking a mental break by looking at Pinterest, I came across this amazing video of the Northern Lights! In an effort to promote the artist, Ole C. Salomonsen and his work I am sharing this with you here! Please take the time to sit back and enjoy this visually stunning event filmed in Norway, Sweden, and Finland!

On this first day of April I choose to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of spring, for it is all around me. I am winding down several successful weeks of dealing with STUFF and the positive energy I am feeling from the successes of this overwhelming challenge has inspired me to take some time with my patio space. We had such a mild winter this year that my hibiscus survived and has shared its first bloom of spring. Blue morning glories are my favorites and I planted an abundance of them near a trellis by my fence. Did you know that emerging Morning Glory plants look like a mass of dragonflies? Magnolia Fuscata is my absolute favorite scented bush and I found one and planted it in a giant pot on my patio and the fragrance from the blooms is simply wonderful, especially in the afternoon after the sun has warmed the plant and it spreads its lovely scent all around the patio! Take a moment to stop and look around at spring!
